Spell Well Day

Thursday of last week saw our very first Spell Well Day. We had a spelling hunt and played spelling bowling! In the afternoon Mrs Ingamells organised a Spelling Bee. Each class chose 4 children to represent their class in a spelling competition. It was very close, with all Key Stage 1 classes being neck and neck at one point but Team 1AB pulled it back right at the end to win the competition and a tray of muffins for the class.

Even if they hadn't won, we would still have been very proud of them for being so brave and working together as a team!

Look Who Has Grown!

Our 5 hungry caterpillars have been munching on their special food! Look how big they have got! Can you remember what they have to do to grow?

I wonder how big they will grow? And what will happen next?

The Pig of Happiness!

As part of our work on Reciprocity (working together) we have talked about the sort of people who are easiest to work with. We decided that it is harder to work with bossy, grumpy people and it is much easier to work with people who are happy and friendly.

So if we all like working with happy, friendly people, WE need to be those happy and friendly people!
To help us understand how happiness can spread from person to person, we watched a short animation of The Pig of Happiness by Edward Monkton.

What can you do to make your happiness 'leak out' today? :)

Punctuation Practice!

To help the children remember when to use a capital letter and a full stop, I put a cube on every correct use.

The children then worked with a partner and checked each other's writing. They put cubes on all the full stops and capital letters and told their partner what was great about their writing.

ICT

In ICT last week we learned how to programme BeeBot. We then worked together to move BeeBot around the mat. We are enjoying working together and helping each other as we learn and practise new skills.

We were then able to practise our programming skills on our own, using the BeeBot app for the iPads.

Fun in the sun!

Last Friday we got the whole year group together to play games in the sunshine! A particular favourite was Duck, Duck, Goose! which everyone enjoyed!

Get the cream ready!

Three children worked together with Miss Atkin to plant out our strawberry plants.

We will keep them protected from the frost in our greenhouse until warmer weather arrives. We are looking forward to tasting the strawberries when they grow!
